Vehicles and Green Areas
Updated: Thursday, 2nd December, 2010
Motorists are advised that no vehicle may be parked on or driven over any public green area maintained by Limerick City Council.
Whilst a rare occurence, it is a matter of some concern to Limerick City Council's Parks Department that some motorists attending major events in the city choose to park on green areas. In some cases, particularly in wet weather, this results in damage to green areas and consequent loss of amenity to local residents. It is the policy of the Parks Department to photograph all vehicles parked on green areas and to contact the registered owners concerned.
Where remedial works are deemed necessary, an invoice will be sent to the relevant registered owner to cover the costs of inspection and reinstatement, inclusive of all labour, materials and administrative costs.
Note also that it is the policy of the Parks Department to advise the Traffic Management Department of all such occurences and to request that, where appropriate, fixed penalty notices (minimum fine €40) be issued under the Road Traffic Acts.
As a result of ongoing complaints from local residents, representations from elected members and observations made by staff, LImerick City Council's Parks Department has erected warning signage at the following locations.
- Ashbrook Estate, Ashbrook (entrance from Ennis Road)
