Booker Prize

In 2008 the Booker Prize celebrated its fortieth anniversary. When the Prize was originally established, the aim was to create an English-language award that would encourage the wider reading of the very best in fiction across the UK and Commonwealth. To be considered the novels must be written by citizens of the Commonwealth or the Republic of Ireland. The winner is decided by a judging panel that usually consists of other writers, critics and academics.Since 2002 the prize has been sponsored by the Man Group Plc and the winner receives £50,000 in prize money.
