Not sure what to read next? Here are some useful websites where you can find information about books, authors and reading suggestions. 

Adults

Whichbook.net provides readers with a new way of choosing what to read. The site allows you to specify what type of book you want to read (happy or sad, long or short, funny or serious) and to choose character, plot and setting. The site then presents a list of books, with short extracts and reader's comments, to match the specified criteria.

Fantastic Fiction can be searched by author's name, series or genre. It gives some biographical information about the author and lists all their books including forthcoming titles. There are also section listing the most popular, top authors and series.

The Guardian Book Reviews has a wealth of information, from The Guardian and Observer newspapers, on books including reviews, complete first chapters, author profiles, recommended reading lists and listings by genre.

Barnes & Noble Review is a great site for the avid reader. It offers fiction reading lists, book reviews (by the editors and customers), book extracts and author interviews. For their reading recommendations check out the 'Five Book' link  - choose your theme and see what five books they suggest.

BookSpot.com is a great portal site that simplifies the search for book-related content on the web. Both adult and children's books are featured and the web resources are arranged in categories. The site also has information on podcasts and eBooks, and a great 'You Asked For It' trivia section!

Book Reporter contains book reviews, in-depth author profiles and interviews, excerpts of the news releases and author bibliographies.

Bookbrowse have all of the best current books - each reviewed and excerpted, as well as author biographies, interviews and reading guides. A lot of the site can be accessed for free but for certain parts of the site you must be a member! 

BookPage is an American based online magazine, carrying reviews of fiction and non-fiction books, author profiles and book related blogs.

Teens & Children

Teen Reads has reviews and excerpts of the latest teenage books. The site includes author interviews, reading guides, book club information and podcasts/ videos.

Cool Reads is a website that was set up by a group of 10-15 year olds. It has over 2,500 book reviews that are searchable by category. Categories include Action, Animals tell the story, Fun Stuff etc. and the Quick Pick of the day! You can also send in your own reviews or comments and play games.

Reading Matters has book and author links, lists, a Lucky Dip button for random reviews and a special Book Chooser. The Book Chooser is an interactive book finder to help you find the book that's right for you! Tick the boxes and use the slider to decide what you want to read about.

Achuka Children's Book UK includes fiction, non-fiction, teenage and poetry pages as well as author profiles and the latest news on award-winning books.

Mrs. Mad's Book-A-Rama has a good range of book reviews, games and jokes. Children can choose the type of books they like to read or try Mrs. Mad's suggestions for their age group.

Kids Reads is an interesting website for children who are wondering what to read next! It offers different features on authors, reviews, a trivia section and a games link. If you are thinking about starting a book club, trying to find new ideas for your club or wondering what a book club is, Kids Reads has all the answers.
