Irish Fulbright Awards 2008 – 2009
Supporting the Visual and Performing Arts. Funding for Study or Research in the United States. Deadline For Applications 14th December 2007.The Fulbright Programme in Ireland is celebrating its 50th Anniversary and is accepting applications for its 2008 – 2009 Irish awards in the visual and performing arts.
The purpose of the programme is to “increase mutual understanding between the people of the United States and the people of other countries by means of educational and cultural exchange.”
The Fulbright Programme was established in Ireland in 1957 and in 1991, the Fulbright Commission was established by legislation as a public body supported by the U.S. Department of State and the Department of Foreign Affairs to operate this official educational exchange programme between Ireland and the United States. Each year, the Commission awards scholarships for Irish citizens to lecture, research or study in the United States and for U.S. citizens to lecture, research or study in Ireland.
Fulbright Student Awards are available for postgraduate study or research in the United States. Applicants may enrol for a postgraduate degree or conduct independent research e.g. as part of their Irish PhD programme. Fulbright Scholar Awards enable post-doctoral scholars and established professionals to undertake advanced research / lecturing at a recognised U.S. institution.
All Fulbright awards have a maximum value for a full academic year of €10,000 for the Scholar Awards and €16,000 for the Student Awards
