Ancestry, Genealogical Research
We regret to advise that Limerick Ancestry, as it is currently organised, is closed since February 4th 2004.
Though Limerick City Council does not offer a genealogy research service, the Local Studies Department of Limerick City Library may be able to provide you with some assistance in your family history research
The service began about eighteen years ago as part of the Midwest Archives (later renamed Limerick Regional Archives) and since then it has offered a genealogical research service to the public. In 1999, when it became part of Limerick City Council and Limerick County Council, it was split into two separate but linked functions: Limerick Archives and Limerick Ancestry.Limerick Ancestry provides a professional family history research service for Limerick City and County. With a database covering all extant church records, property surveys and census records, plus access to the civil records of births, marriages and deaths, it is possible to find anyone on record in Limerick prior to 1902 and sometimes up to 1911
More information can be found at www.limerickancestry.com
Limerick Ancestry is part of the countrywide network of family history research centres, the Irish Family History Foundation, and their website is http://www.irishroots.com/
