Derelict Sites
An important element in the development of the city is the removal/development of areas which detract from the general area. The Derelict Sites Section is charged with taking acting to secure the removal of dereliction.
Action can involve getting property owners to carry out predetermined works or in certain circumstances involves the City Council using vesting procedures under the Derelict Sites Act to acquire property. This action has resulted in significant improvements and a reduction in the number of derelict sites.
