Maria Byrne - The Mayor of Limerick City
Cllr. Maria Byrne was first elected to Limerick City Council in 1999 and was re-elected in 2004 and 2009. She served as Deputy Mayor in 2004 and 2007. Her father, Bobby Byrne was a member of the Council from 1972 to 1997 and served as Mayor in 1978/79 and 1979/80. She has taken time off from her retail business to concentrate on her duties as a public representative. She is interested in current affairs and is an avid fan of Limerick and Munster teams. She has a deep love of art and when time permits likes nothing better than to get out her easel and canvas and paint. She is a member of Limerick Shannon Rotary Club, Limerick Art Society, St Gabriels Development Committee and Limerick and District Soroptimist Club.
