Limerick City and County Council Manager Conn Murray Welcomes Limerick Jobs Announcement

Limerick City and County Council Manager / Chief Executive Conn Murray has warmly welcomed the announcement of over 400 jobs for the Mid-West by Ethicon Biosurgery Ireland, part of the Johnson and Johnson Family of Companies.

Speaking after the announcement this morning, Mr Murray said;
“I’m delighted that Ethicon Biosurgery, a world leader in technological advancements in surgical sutures and wound closure devices has decided to choose Limerick as a base to continue its tradition of innovation,” he said.

“The €80m expansion of Ethicon today is a major vote of confidence in Limerick which is fast becoming home to a hub of the leading players in the life sciences and medical devices sectors. Limerick is also the perfect fit for this expansion due to our graduate skills and the research expertise available locally from the University of Limerick and Limerick Institute of Technology. The 270 highly skilled jobs and 150 construction jobs which will be created as a result of this development will give a much needed boost to the economy locally.

Finally, I welcome the fact that some of the most advanced surgical care in the world, enhancing patients lives across the globe will now be made in Limerick by Limerick people.”
