The Markets this year featuring continental traders, local traders and the Slow Food enthusiasts  will be the biggest ever put on in Limerick city with a fantastic combination of food, treats, pottery and jewellery,” he said.
Obviously the city will be in a Munster frenzy ahead of the big match so we’re hoping to add to the excitement with a large outdoor screen and live music and wouldn’t it be wonderful if we could be celebrating another appearance in the Heineken Cup Final with a Ceili Mor and our spectacular fireworks display on Sunday night!

The bikers will spectacularly parade through the city at 5.30pm on Sunday, May 3rd leaving from the Limerick Down Syndrome Centre in Castletroy.

Down Syndrome Ireland chief executive, Mary O’Reilly said she is delighted that the people of Limerick will support the Rev-Up4DSI participants who are looking forward to their trip to the Treaty City.
Rev-up4Down Syndrome Ireland is an annual round Ireland Motorcycle challenge in aid of Down Syndrome Ireland,” she explained. “Every year there is a different route and this year as a Limerick person, I am delighted to be able to bring it to the city for two nights. There will be 200 participants who generously do this on an annual basis for us, with 1,000 plus kilometres to be covered over the weekend. Sunday will also see all Rev-up4DSI participants’ parade from DSI Limerick’s Office beside the Castletroy Hotel under Garda Traffic Corps escort, across the city to the Strand Hotel at 5.30pm which with 150 motorcycles is a sight that has to be seen to be believed!

She added: “All funds raised go towards the further development of the National Resource Team which comprises of experts in the fields of Early Intervention, Counselling, Education, Medical and Independence as well as providing support to members and their families.

The adults will get a chance to show their muscle in the Tug-o-War and family fun games in Arthur’s Quay Park on Sunday and they can step it out at the free open air Ceili Mor in the park also that afternoon.

There will be plenty of entertainment on the Shannon on Sunday with the popular Currach Regatta featuring the world champions Munster Currach crew. Hundreds of triathletes will also be in Limerick over the May Bank Holiday weekend for the Joey Hannon Memorial Triathlon and would appreciate your support!

Mayor of Limerick, Cllr John Gilligan, said Riverfest has something for everyone to enjoy.
What a way to start off the summer and after the success of St Patrick’s Day, it’s great to see Limerick in a celebratory mood launching Riverfest,” he said. “It’s also a wonderful opportunity for Limerick people to celebrate the best that our city has to offer and to showcase all its positive aspects.
