The cold snap is set to through to St. Stephen's Day.

The City Council's winter maintenance programme is in place across the City. All major vehicular access routes to the City Centre are passable and will be treated with salt as required over the coming days. City Centre footpaths will also be treated as required.

Drivers visiting the City for shopping should, during the cold spell, continue to exercise caution and allow sufficient time for their journey.

Road users, residents and pedestrians are also advised to consult www.transport.ie for advice and information in relation to current weather conditions. This website also provides updates in relation to public transport.

  • Keep warm
  • Wear appropriate footwear
  • Undertake only essential journeys using public transport where possible
  • Check www.rsa.ie  or www.aaroadwatch.ie  for safe driving tips
  • Check in on vulnerable and elderly neighbours
  • Do not dispose of water onto footpaths or roads
