St. Patricks Day Parking Restrictions

The St. Patrick's Parade in Limerick City will take place on Thursday 17th March from midday to 2pm. Up to 70,000 people are expected to attend the parade.

The parade will start at Sarsfield Barracks on Barrack Hill, before travelling onto O'Connell Ave, The Crescent, O'Connell St, Patrick St and Bank Place.

No parking will be allowed along the route from 4am. Traffic will not be permitted inbound over Sarsfield Bridge and only local traffic will be able to access the traffic from Union Cross between 11am and 2pm.

Traffic coming from Dublin Rd will be diverted at Abbey Bridge/Ballsbridge from 11am to 3:30pm. Traffic from Corbally will be diverted at Island Rd/Athlunkard St from 11am to 3:30pm. From Cork traffic will be diverted at Punches Cross from 9am to 2:30pm.

Between 11am and 3:30pm, motorists coming from Corbally will be diverted at Island Rd/Athlunkard St jct and traffic will also have to turn left at the Henry St/Sarsfield St jct.

From 9am to 2:30pm, no traffic will be allowed from the O'Connell Ave jct of Wolfe Tone St to Punches Cross and Quinn St will be closed. O’Connell St will remain closed between William St and Mallow St until 5pm.

Traffic will have to turn left at the Henry St/Sarsfield St jct from 11am to 3:30pm. Quin St will be closed from 9am to 2:30pm.

O'Connell St will remain closed until 5pm between William St and Mallow St.
