New Traffic System Orbital Route Phase 1

Limerick City Council wish to advise road users that Phase 1 of the Limerick City Inner Orbital Route is planned to commence operation on Friday 29th January, 2010 at circa 10.30am.

  • The primary alteration to traffic flows as a result of this new traffic system will be as follows:

  • All inbound traffic on Mulgrave Street and Ballysimon Road (R527) on route to the City Centre will be directed left at Cathedral Place onto Sexton Street to Roches Street, Parnell Street and to Wickham Street.

  • All traffic on Cathedral Place on route to the City Centre and Roxboro Road will be directed onto Sexton Street, Parnell Street, Wickham Street.

  • All traffic on Roxboro Road (R511) on route to the City Centre will be directed onto Sexton Street, to Parnell Street, Roches Street and Wickham Street.

  • All traffic on Roxboro Road and Ballysimon Road and on Cathedral Place on route to Upper William Street, Upper Gerald Griffin Street and Newtown Mahon and Old Windmill Road will have access via

  • Roxboro Road to Old Windmill Road to Lower Gerald Griffin Street to Upper William Street.

      and

  • To Sexton Street to Wickham Street to Upper William Street to Upper Gerald Griffin Street and Newtown Mahon.

  • Upper William Street from its junction with Upper Gerald Griffin Street to its junction with Cathedral Place and Cathedral Place extension will operate in a one way direction out of town.
